Driving into Budapest was a bit of a mission coming across our first decent traffic jam exiting the motorway. We followed the directions of a camp site into the Buda Hills. Following some "camping" signs we ended up pitching our tent on a womans back lawn (apparently she has just started up the business). Nevertheless, Marta was absolutely awesome with cheap rates, guide tips of exploring the city, a map, bus tickets and she even dropped us off at the local bus stop to the city centre, choice.
With "Buda" being on one side of the river and "Pest" on the other side, there was a fair bit of ground to cover. Buda had the heritage sites and Pest the restaurants, shops and nightlife. There was no shortage of traditional Hungarian food, which was all delicious. Whilst aimlessly walking around we stumbled on a 3 day beer fest which was heaving with people, bands and of course beer tents! We ended up having a few jars with Kat delving deep into her memory of high school German and coming up with a few beers.
